Welcome to Melbourne and Children First Foyok, Serah and her mum Aina. They arrived from PNG on 28 April 2018 and after months of only boys at the Retreat we now have some girls!
They’re pictured with Fiona Smith from No Roads Foundation who escorted them to Melbourne. In addition, Fiona provided enormous support on the ground in PNG with paperwork, medical reports and ensuring the girls were ready to fly on time. We’ll keep you posted on their progress when they’ve settled in. Check out Trophimus on Page 5 in Melbourne's Herald Sun in November 2017. The story reveals how many groups combined to help him - LifeHealthCare who donated the technology and equipment used in his surgery, No Roads - Health who met him and referred him to Children First, Dr Leo Donnan and St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne who donated their services.
In October 2016, Melbourne's Herald Sun tells the story of Itoros foot reconstruction and her excitement about coming to the ball tonight. Thanks surgeons David MCombe and Leo Donnan and St Vincent's Private Hospital Melbourne for your care.
The new Tufi Health Center under construction. A project No Roads - Health has facilitated in partnership with The Shine On Foundation, Oro Province Provincial Health, PNG Forest Products and most importantly - the local community. On schedule to open 15 May 2017!!
No Roads Health is delighted to be able to reduce the price of all the planned (5) trips in 2017 due to generous corporate sponsorship the No Roads Expeditions Foundation (Aust) has been able to secure.
In 2017 NR-H is hoping to see the re-construction of the Tufi Health Centre into a brand new facility with a twelve bed inpatient ward, delivery room and post natal ward area, outpatient facility, dispensary, offices and an amenities block. This has been made possible due to generous sponsorship money the No Roads Foundation (Aust) has been able to secure.
As previously reported...we met a number of families last November who were caring for their severely disabled children. We purchased some wheelchairs for them and they were delivered (Thank You PNG AIR for your amazing support) by Amanda & Fiona from No Roads Expeditions.
From Fiona..."Thanks for the honour of having the opportunity to deliver these to the families and to witness a life changing day for Andrew, Vicky, Gretel and Noble. I think this was one of the proudest days I have ever had in PNG". ..." Ashron age 6 had never sat up on his own his entire life until this magical day. His joy when first placed in the chair all over his face spoke a million words of how you have all just changed his world! His smile lightened the whole of PNG," WOW!!! |
