Preparation

Everything you need to know to get yourself mentally, physically and equipped for your expedition.

To ensure you enjoy and get the most out of your Kokoda adventure, and to provide sound preparation advice for a safe journey, we have prepared a wide range of information for you to review before you head off on your expedition. This resource draws upon the experience of 1000's of trekkers, and our experienced team of guides and expedition leaders drawing upon more than a decade of Kokoda expeditions experience.

This expedition is considered difficult as there are long walks over elevated terrain and up and down narrow jungle trails, camping in the jungle, some days are long hauls of seven to ten hours through difficult terrain in humid and hot weather. The Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea (PNG) offers an emotional and physical challenge, with pleasures and rewards for those who prepare properly. Don't leave it until its too late. You will need a minimum of at least 3 to 4 months to prepare, with more time an advantage.
