No Roads Health Coastal Trip - Sep 2018 - Al Grasby

A highly successful trip with 780 peoples’ health wellbeing touched and local Health workers trained. Birthing kits, toothbrushes, reading glasses and other medical supplies were distributed amongst the local village communities. All project objectives achieved.

No Roads Foundation – Supporting amazing volunteers providing world class remote Health services

Monday 10th September 2018

Our team of 12 arrives at Buna for the formal ceremony and official opening of the Buna Health Centre. The Centre was funded by the Shine on Foundation, and sponsored/built by NREF in conjunction with Kokoda Initiative Partnership. A huge health clinic followed to inaugurate this magnificent community facility.

Tuesday 11th September 2018
Team boards “Crystal” at Buna and travels to the village of Tumari where we are warmly welcomed, and complete another very busy health clinic.

Wednesday 12th September 2018
Transfer to Sinei for a morning health clinic and then to Tufi for an afternoon clinic in the now well established No Roads Health Centre.

Thursday 13th September 2018
We awake at Komoa Beach and are ushered to the beach to attend to a seriously injured local who has been run over by a speed boat whilst paddling his canoe.  A boat transfer and walk up to the village of Orotoaba for a health clinic, before walking down to Jebo for an afternoon health clinic.

Friday 14th September 2018
Boat transfer to a Health clinic at Marasa before we settle at Tomlins Guest House for a well-deserved afternoon rest.

Saturday 15th September 2018
Boat transfer to Utukwaf for one of our biggest health clinics before returning to Tomlins.

Sunday 16th September 2018
Final boat transfer to Tufi Dive Resort to experience one of the highlights of the trip - the PNG Independence Day celebrations including meeting the Deputy Prime Minister, and engaging in community cultural activities.
