Schoolies with No Roads

No Roads Expeditions is on a mission to offer an alternative to a traditional schoolies that is Adventurous, Fun, Rewarding, and Inspiring.
No Roads Expeditions believes that finishing high school is a monumental occasion that deserves to be celebrated in a remarkable way. What we would like to do is offer an alternative to schoolies where celebration takes form in a different way to how it currently is celebrated. Our three programs have an emphasis on trekking, cultural interactions as well as being on the most significant track in Australia's History. Our programs are open to all students finishing high school as well as their parents, siblings or any relatives that would like to join them.

Kokoda

Walking the Kokoda Track involves 50 hours of hiking over 90km of sharp, timbered ridges, steep-sided valleys and fast flowing rivers. Is it a challenge? You bet it is! You will need to train for this trek. We run a free training trek every month that is run by our Australian guides. These treks will give you the opportunities to ask questions, get Kokoda fit and to learn more about the village you will be spending time at.

Australian Led Kokoda

The Kokoda Track will transport you to another time, when Australia was in danger of being invaded by the seemingly unstoppable imperial Japanese Army. Your will gain a deep appreciation of the conditions endured by Australian Diggers as well as gain an understanding of local living conditions and cultures as well as taking in the beauty of the Owen Stanley Ranges.
​ITINERARY
  • Day 1 - Arrive Port Moresby where you will be met by your guide and transferred to the Holiday Inn.
  • Day 2 - Fly to Popondetta and drive to Kokoda for start of trek. Trek to Deniki.
  • Day 3 - Deniki to Alola via Isurava Battlefield. Visit Con’s Rock along the way.
  • Day 4 - Alola to Templeton’s Crossing One. Visit Japanese artillery placement and many foxholes.
  • Day 5 - Templeton’s Crossing One to Kagi via Kagi Gap or Myola. Kagi was home to the last Fuzzy Wuzzy Angel on the Track who sadly passed away in December 2017.
  • Day 6 - Rest in the village on the Sabbath.
  • Day 7 - Kagi to Menari via Brigade Hill.
  • Day 8 - Menari to Nauro.
  • Day 9 - Nauro to Va Ule Creek. Today we will pass through Iorabawa and Ofi Creek.
  • Day 10 - Va Ule Creek to Owers Corner. Then on to Port Moresby. Visit Bomana War Cemetery along the way.
  • Day 11 - Port Moresby to Home or onto another PNG destination.

Australian Led Kokoda with Cultural Immersion

On this extended trek you will spend an extra day in Kagi and from this will learn more of the culture of the Kagi people. Kagi is the village that many of our porters are from and where their families live. You will have the chance to help educate students at the local school, build pig fences, learn to cook native meals and learn about day to day life in surroundings completely different to your own.

  • Day 1 - Arrive Port Moresby.
  • Day 2 - Fly to Popondetta and drive to Kokoda for start of trek. Trek to Deniki.

Non-Trekking Kokoda with Cultural Immersion

This non-trekking expedition will help you gain a deep understanding of the culture of the people of Kagi as you spend several days interacting with the locals as you stay at Kagi.

This tour is an excellent way to still be on the Kokoda Track and partake in some shorter walks while focusing more on the cultural immersion and getting involved in projects in Kagi. With these program you will have a chance to play soccer/rugby with the local children, take part in the traditional greasy pole, learn how to do stick carvings and attend church with the locals. With this program we can arrange specific projects for you to be involved in that will have long term benefits for the people of Kagi.

  • Day 1 - Arrive Port Moresby.
  • Day 2 - Charter flight from Port Moresby to Kagi.
  • Day 3 - Work with the people of the village in their gardens, build pig fences and live like the locals do.
