No Roads Education ensures that the content delivered to teachers can be implemented in classrooms immediately. Teams of experienced Australian educational professionals self fund their expeditions to work alongside the teachers in classrooms, assisting with lesson planning, and modeling good teaching practices. This includes activities to apply factual knowledge, develop critical thinking skills, utilise problem solving methods, create new applications using known information and results evaluation. Australian teachers work with the local teachers to find ways to bring effective, higher cognitive skill development into the curriculum.
Education and training is focused on English, Literacy, Numeracy, Key learning areas specific to identified needs and best classroom practice, while also assisting teachers with the implementation of the new PNG Department of Education curriculum. The teams provide professional development to local teachers and work with students in schools at the same time. Ongoing support of qualified teachers posted along the Kokoda Track is important to ensure they are up to date with latest practice, and are well equipped to provide high level outcomes for their students. |

No Roads Education, a charitable arm of No Roads Foundation are injecting, at a minimum of once a year, a team of educational professionals with skill sets specific to fulfil the needs of the communities surrounding Kagi, Efogi & Menari (Central villages along the Kokoda Track). Volunteers Participants will support, mentor and provide training to the local teachers who are currently working in the schools on the Kokoda Track. No Roads Education uses a ‘just in time’ approach to professional development being delivered. This ensures that the content being delivered to teachers in PNG is of high priority and will be used in classrooms straight away.

An extensive needs analysis has been conducted with the PNG teachers to ensure that the content of professional development delivered meets the specific needs of each school.
Establishing partnerships within PNG is an important component of No Roads Education to ensure that our strategic direction is in line with educational the needs of those living in the region. Supporting the Government and other organisations to deliver an efficient educational program is the most effective and sustainable approach to delivering education services of an internationally accepted standard along the Kokoda Track. Increasing awareness of our program, and consultation with other organisations working in the region is essential to ensure the people of this remote region continue to benefit, and the standard of education rises.
