Kokoda April 2019 – ANZAC Dawn Service Bomana War Cemetery
Sometimes, these reports get repetitive, not this one though!
A quick snapshot of a trip of a lifetime.
To walk in the steps of men who fought to save a country they truly loved , and for future generations.
The emotions l felt throughout this trip was so raw and so unexpected. I have seen things l could never have imagined and imagined things l can’t believe happened.
To share with a group of lovely, fun, kind people was fantastic making our trip memorable.
And our AJ . Thanks you for your passion of our past. For the emotional journey you took us on, we felt all that you felt . Your dad jokes your sense of humour, sometimes a little weird but mostly we just laughed. Thanks
Cheers Robs xx
Kokoda ANZAC 2019 - Before ➡ After; Well, what an absolute whirlwind/slog/emotional journey that was. It is up there as one of the most physically and mentally challenging feats I have ever put myself through.
While it was challenging, I never doubted myself for a minute that I couldn’t finish it, because I had the constant support of my amazing boyfriend @fazwald, AJ our Aussie guide, the rest of the incredible trekkers, Roxy my personal guide, and all of the other Guides.
We had it pretty damn good. We trekked with a big group of guides who carried the majority of our stuff, with relatively clean clothes, good water, and amazing food. However, the war that took place on the Kokoda track had Australian soldiers fighting for our freedom on this extremely treacherous terrain with out any of these things, plus carrying their heavy weapons and being shot at. Without their gracious sacrifice, the Australia that we know might have been a much different place. Although our conditions were amazing, by doing the Kokoda track we were able to have a taste of what it must of been like for the soldiers. With every step we took we were able to reflect and learn more about the war that took place, and about the brave actions that the aussies and PNG people underwent, filling us with the ANZAC spirit to keep on going.
Thank you @noroadsexpeditions for an experience of a lifetime. Surely will not be forgetting it anytime soon!

Yesterday Nat and I, and 9 other amazing humans finished the experience of a lifetime. Today we were able to honour the hundreds of lives lost on the Kokoda track and the over 100,000 lives lost fighting for our great country over the years. This trip has left no doubt in my mind that without Australia and PNG defending the track, our country would be a very different place today.
Thankyou to all those that have served and currently serve our great country, including the PNG Fuzzy Wuzzies.
Lest we forget.

Explore & stay humble ~ Kokoda took me so far outside my element that I experienced myself the most. So fortunate to have shared it with a wonderful team. My heart is full

That magic of a really small group that gels, that walks together, that can really take the time to experience the track rather than queuing to do anything, go anywhere.
Along with the above, we had the quiet achiever, Russell – so good to have another old bloke in the group, especially one that was pushing the front of the crew all the time
Tom aka Tomcat who went from reluctant participant, to the inspiration of a truly great piece of rap, (can’t wait to meet Izzyboo), he epitomised the adaption of youth. And he loves his mum, Jacqui
Jacqui, who dragged young Tom along, but gave us such pleasure to watch the mother/son banter
Jenny, again pushing along so very nicely, always there for an encouraging word, ie ‘one of your jokes WILL be funny AJ, keep trying!’ And part of the Fab Three with Rob & Jacq’s
Jack, my island boy bro. Doing it for his grandfather. MM in Rabaul, so nice to have another bloke tear up when talking about his fam.
Ali, best cuddler there, took young Tom along quite nicely! But such a lovely young lady with a great heart
Sunny by name, Sunny by nature. Our little pocket rocket of fun
And
Laura, who put together this great little video of our experience.
Such a great experience, for every single person involved. Everybody who does it says exactly that, yet so many find so many excuses not to. Seriously, every Aussie should be working toward completing this life changing sojourn.
