Prepare for the Kokoda Track

FAQ

Common questions

What are the minimum and maximum ages?

There's no strict minimum, though children are encouraged to be 10 or older. There's no upper limit either (trekkers in their eighties have completed the Track), but you should discuss the trek with your doctor.

When do expeditions run?

Treks avoid the wettest months, roughly December to early March. There is no single "best" time, and you should expect rain and mud whenever you go. April to October is the drier season, and ANZAC Day is a popular, moving time to be on or near the Track.

Which way do you walk the Track?

Australian-led expeditions generally walk from Kokoda to Owers' Corner, and locally led expeditions generally from Owers' Corner to Kokoda. Check your itinerary.

Where do I find dates and prices?

Scheduled departures, pricing and bookings are on the No Roads Expeditions website. Contact the office about trips on other dates.

Are you insured and licensed?

Yes. No Roads Expeditions carries public liability insurance, is a licensed Kokoda Track Authority operator, and is a founding member of the Kokoda Tour Operators Association.
