About the Track

One of the world's great treks — and one of its most moving

The Kokoda Track links the northern and southern coasts of Papua New Guinea through a rugged, single-file path over the Owen Stanley Range. In 1942 it was also the site of one of the most significant Australian battles of WWII, where 625 Australian soldiers lost their lives repelling the Japanese advance.

Trek it today and you'll pass through villages where descendants of the "Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels" still live, cross the same creeks and climb the same ridgelines the soldiers did — with time to stop, reflect and understand what happened at each site along the way.

No Roads Expeditions

An Australian company, built on a PNG partnership

No Roads Expeditions is an Australian company that has worked hand-in-hand with our PNG-based local team since it first started trekking Kokoda. It's a genuine partnership, not a transaction — local guides and porters who live along the Track bring the knowledge no outsider can, and that partnership is what shapes every trek we run.
